Village North Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is pleased to announce that certified care for lymphedema pain is now available for residents. Rosana Buscariollo -- a full-time occupational therapist at Village North -- recently earned certification as a lymphedema therapist and compression garment fitter. She completed 135 hours of education in Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT).

Lymphedema is accumulation of lymph fluid in tissues, causing swelling in arms, legs or other areas of the body such as breast, head, face, neck and genitals. CDT is recommended to ease discomfort. CDT is manual lymphatic drainage, specialized compression bandaging, proper fitting of compression garments, special skin care and specific exercises.

Buscariollo is one of few skilled nursing center occupational therapists who have achieved certification.
